Worlaby Womens Institute

A Brief Introduction

The WI Group in Worlaby started in 1926 and is still going strong even
though we only have fifteen members at the present time.   We are small in
number but great in every other way.

We meet every month in the Village Hall on the second Monday starting at
7.15 p.m. until around 9.00 p.m.   The Committee try very hard to
provide an interesting programme during the year with speakers on a
variety of subjects, some topical and others on an entertainment
level.   We sometimes have evenings "out" visiting places of interest
around our area - the "Amy Howson" boat at Ferriby and the old house in
Barton to mention only two.

There are numerous events which we are kept up to date with from our
office in Brigg.   These can vary from classes on photography to visits
to the ballet in Leeds with so much in-between.   We are of course very
aware of being part of a much larger family of like-minded ladies and
enjoy our WI magazine which is sent to every member.     We support the
National Campaigns for the protection of bees, the current world wide
project for the protection of women and children against cruelty and
slavery and locally we support the Battered Wives Refuge in Scunthorpe.

We always close our meetings with a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the
opportunity to chat amongst ourselves, so if you think you would enjoy
being part of our WI Group you would be made most welcome at any of our
meetings, as a visitor, to see if this organisation is for you.   Tel.
